(D. Berezhnyi – V. Sosnora) Viktor Sosnora is our contemporary and already a classic who lived in Petersburg. In the musical interpretation of Alexandr Mirzayan, a change of one letter led to an interesting
change in the meaning. Here I give a variant that is, to my mind, closest to the initial poetics of Sosnora.
For deeper study, listen to the works of Elena Frolova on the poems of Marina Tsvetaeva on the same topic, besides the above mentioned “Prayer to Mary Magdalene”.

a woman) from the point of view of Hermes, a Greek god wearing winged sandals — dodger, thief and huckster.
Hermes, unlike Apollo or Dionysus, was not the most popular god in the Pantheon — the more interesting the
position is (it is quite ambiguous) of a person who is shining himself, not glimmering in the sunlight.
There is an appeal that should be heard.

“I was approaching my home when I started singing “Grenada, Grenada...” Who can sing like this?
Definitely he can not be Spanish. It would be too primitive. Then who would sing?
When I opened the door, I already knew who would sing like this. Of course he is a Ukrainian guy”.
80 years past. A Ukrainian guy lived a life and understood much of his Ukraine and other countries.
So: “new songs were written by life itself” and he does not sing “Grenada”, he sings “Nongrenada” — a song on the lyrics of contemporary Moscow poet Konstantin Rupasov.

Maidan (The Last Request of Old Lirnyk) [10 MB]
Widely known as “Maidan” on the poem by Vitaly Korotich. This song by Sergey Nikitin was known in Russian translation of U. Morits. In this case, it is sung in the original Ukrainian language. The poem “The Last Request of Old Lirnyk”, written in 1971, has nothing to do with revolutions.
Short comment: The lirnyk was an itinerant Ukrainian musician who performed religious, historical and epic songs to the accompaniment of a lira, the Ukrainian version of the hurdy-gurdy.

very impressive. Especially if they are written before a war. I could not help crying when I listed to
the song «à-à, êðîêîäèëû, áåãåìîòû...» from the movie “About the Red Hat”, released right before the
Afghan war. The joyful song by Charles Trenet has the same property, because it was written in 1938
when everyone was living.
It is interesting that people love this song so much that there is even a song
about the song “Y’a d’la joie” and about Charles Trenet, “L’enfant aux cheveux gris”. It was written
by the Canadian representative of modern French chanson, Lynda Lemay.

Short comment on the adjective “batave”: Batave republic existed for about 11 years after the Great
French revolution and then got the name used today — Holland (Netherlands). Here “batave” is “Holland”.

musicians; 2) the word “love” is used in the meaning “amorousness” or “passion” by exalt man, so he may be excused.

This is a song by French chansonier Georges Brassens with typical attributes of the genre: noisy quarter, valtz and accordion, a wise and kind smile with love to a man. But you may see that this musical narration is not of ordinary format comparing to what is called “chanson” here. It is interesting if those who like labels will be in format when they follow the hero of the song or their format will better match another place?

Mancha”. At the beginning was Cervantes and his Don Quixote of La Mancha (1605). In 1959, an American
play for television by Dale Wasserman appeared that became a musical, “Man of La Mancha”, owing to the
music of Mitch Leigh and the libretto by Joe Darion, then it was translated into many languages. French
Don Quixote is Jacques Brel.
I performed a variant of the leitmotif song from this musical “The Impossible Dream (The Quest)” with lyrics by Brel. My Quixote is unexpectedly guitar, as usual. But why unexpectedly? He is Spanish.
